BTI’s Travel and Tourism trainees satisfied with levels of training

A number of Travel and Tourism trainees in BTI had expressed their deep satisfaction with the training process and its mechanisms along with the highly effective training programs and their impact on the trainees’ performance. It is fair to say that their performance have improved significantly in the field of Travel and Tourism.

The Professional Diploma is considered one of the most important training programs offered by BTI exclusively. Therefore, BTI is always keen to renew its credibility with the awarding body concerned. Given the ever- increasing demand of labor market and its need for Travel and Tourism specialists especially with the ability to work with the following systems (Sabre،Amadeus،Galileo). Those systems are the ones BTI use for training. Bahrain Training Institute was able to attract a number of high school graduates wishing to engage themselves in this field, which is currently considered as one of the most important areas of both local and international Labor market.

The Professional Diploma in Travel and Tourism (DTTO) contains two professional programs (IATA and DTTO), where IATA has four main programs (IATA in Travel and Tourism Operations, IATA Crew Training Program, IATA Classification and Advanced Air Cargo Marketing Program, IATA Fundamentals of Air Freight). The IATA diploma is one of the most recognized professional travel and tourism certificates awarded by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), based in Montreal, Canada, where the professional program graduates receive the certificate after passing 108 hours, approximately 4 months.

The 9-month DTTO certification is awarded by the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM), which aims to train its staff on booking and flight using three main systems (Saber reservation system, Amadeus reservation system, Galileo reservation system, which is handled by major travel and tourism companies.

The training process in the Institute is especially characterized in the field of travel and tourism efficiency and high quality, where the Institute has academics with long experience in this area and accredited internationally from the awarding bodies of the program of travel and tourism. The trainers depend in their training on the English language in all curricula of practical and theoretical specializations, which contributes to the development of trainees’ skills in the language. This is an essential skill to get lots of career opportunities after graduation; since their skills would match the skills required by the labor market. One of the most prominent jobs awaiting professional diploma graduates in travel and tourism operations (work in airlines, airports, cruise lines, travel offices, hotels, tourist organizations as tour guides, car rental companies).

Mr. Ali Sawar is a graduate of the Department of Travel and Tourism who has achieved his ambition after graduation. Sawar pointed at his professional achievement after graduating from the Institute. As part of his three-month field training conducted through BTI for a travel and tourism company he was able to get a job there for his skills and ability improved by BTI programs. He first worked in the ticket and hotel sales department, then moved up to the airline sales department and finally as the government's sales manager.

BTI is keen to send its trainees to Bahrain most leading companies and institutions to train on working with their modern devices and technology and learn more about the mechanisms of teamwork.

On the other hand, the trainee Mohammad Al Rumaihi pointed out that those who wish to develop their skills in the field of travel and tourism should join BTI for its commitment to graduate young Bahrainis capable of promoting tourism in the country. While the trainee Zainab Ali Mohammed said that BTI organizes number of trips to the most historical places and tourist attractions and destinations to prepare its trainees for the labor market.
