BTI trainees participate in the World Robot Olympiad (WRO)

BTI trainees participated in the 8th World Robot Olympiad (WRO) competitions, which were recently concluded at AMA International School, and held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association.

The event was attended by Dr. Mohammed Mubarak Jumaa, Under Secretary for Resources and Services at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Samah Ajjawi, Acting Director General of Bahrain Training Institute, and a number of Ministry officials.


BTI team, which competed under the advanced category, present the “Tetrix robot” which was designed and programmed by BTI trainees during the last training year.

In this regard, Dr. Samah Ajjawi said that “BTI participation in the Robot Olympiad is part of its interest in upgrading its trainees in various fields, adding that “This competition will provide trainees with opportunities to excel in the creative world of robotics”.


“The outstanding skills and high competence of BTI trainees qualify them to participant in such a highly challenging worldwide competition” she said, explaining that “BTI provides its trainees with an up-to-date knowledge in the field”.

On her part, Head of Instrumentation and Chemical division Ms. Dalal Al-Aliwat, and Chairman of the Robot Committee at the Institute, pointed out that BTI management has shown particular interest to the World Robot Olympiad, where a special committee of highly specialized trainers has been formed to supervise the trainees participating in the competition.

Kumail Mohammed, BTI trainer who competed at the WRO said “my participation in the WRO provided me with an opportunity to prove my skills and knowledge. I have also got a chance to view the projects of other participants from various schools and universities in the Kingdom of Bahrain”.


Sayed Abbas, another BTI participant, thanked the Ministry of Education and BTI management for their continued support to the trainees, and the opportunities they provide them to upgrade their skills, while Abdullah Al-Sheikh, who also participated in BTI team said that his participation in the World Robotics Olympiad enriched his knowledge and experience in the field.
