What are the entry requirements for admission?

All trainees who would like to enroll at BTI are required to take the Math and English Cambridge placement tests with a grade not lower than that required by BTI.

What if I fail the placement tests, will I be given another chance to take the tests?

BTI offers an orientation programme for those who fail the placement tests. The orientation programme includes units in English, Math and IT. Trainees who pass the units in the orientation programme are automatically admitted in any of the Level 3 programmes.

Am I entitled to apply for credit transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

Yes. Trainees who successfully completed and passed units in any recognised educational institution in Bahrain are entitled upon admission to apply through credit transfer process for unit equivalents offered at BTI.

On the other hand, trainees who acquired prior knowledge and skills from formal, non-formal, and informal learning environment are entitled to apply for Recognition of Prior
Learning (RPL).

What are my options if I want to pursue qualification at BTI?

Trainees who meet the secondary education minimum requirement can pursue a Diploma/Advanced Diploma/Extended or National Diploma programme.

Trainees who have successfully completed the Diploma/Advanced/Extended/National programme can seek for a higher qualification through the HNC (level 4) and/or HND (level 5).

Trainees with secondary education, diploma, or a baccalaureate degree as required by awarding bodies can pursue professional development qualifications offered by the CTC.

Will I be entitled for refund if I will withdraw from the programme?

Trainees who decide to withdraw from their programmes after the admission and registration are entitled to fees refund as follows:

•100 % refund of fees if withdrawal is filed before the start of training
• 50% refund of fees if withdrawal is filed within the first or second week of training
• No refund of fees is granted if withdrawal is filed from the third week onwards after the beginning of   
  training

What is the maximum number of units I can enroll?

A trainee is allowed to enroll a maximum of seven units per semester provided that his or her GPA is not lower than 1.75.

Will I be able to take the final BTI assessment if I fail in BTEC assessment?

No. A trainee has to pass the BTEC assessment before he or she is allowed to take the final BTI assessment. Trainees will have to reregister for a unit if he or she fails a BTEC assessement.

How many resubmission is allowed in BTEC Assessment?

Only one resubmission is allowed provided that a trainee fulfilled the given conditions.

How will I achieve pass, merit, or distinction?

For a trainee to achieve a pass grade, he or she must:
• Attend at least 75% of the unit sessions. A trainee who fails to satisfy this criterion will be awarded a 
  “WA”, “WE”, “WF” or “WP” grade even if s/he passes all the Awarding Body pass criteria. In such a case 
  the trainee is required to re-register for the unit.
• Achieve all Awarding Body Pass grading criteria.
• Achieve at least 40% in the final exam.
• Achieve a final grade (overall grade) of 50%.

For a trainee to achieve a merit grade, he or she must:
• Achieve all Awarding Body Pass grading criteria.
• Achieve at least 40% in the final exam.
• Achieve an overall grade of 65%+.

For a trainee to achieve a distinction grade, he or she must:
• Achieve all Awarding Body Pass grading criteria.
• Achieve at least 40% in the final exam.
• Achieve an overall grade of 85%+.

What do “WA”, “WE”, “WF”, and "I” stand for?

WA (Withdrawal with Excuse) Attending less than 75% of the unit sessions with a valid excuse.

WE (Withdrawal with Excuse from all Units) Withdrawal from all units due to acceptable reasons.

WF (Withdrawal with Failure) Attending less than 75% of the unit sessions without a valid excuse.

WP (Withdrawal with Permission from all Units) Withdrawal from one or more units due to acceptable reasons (WP). Trainees must be registered for at least four (4) units during the semester.

I (Incomplete) Absence from end-of-semester exam or other assessment, if with a valid, approved reason.

After completing a programme, how long will I wait for my credentials to be issued?

A trainee is awarded qualification certificates and official transcript of records upon completion of the programme and submission of a clearance. All credentials must be requested. Requested credentials are issued after five working days from the day of receipt.
